WOMEN who deliver meals to elderly people yesterday held a Mad Hatter's tea party so they could raise money for charity.
The volunteers dressed up as Alice in Wonderland and were joined by the Mad Hatter, a white rabbit, and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, among other characters.
Members of the Women's Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) in Middlesbrough raised £600 to enable them to continue their work throughout the North-East.
They also held raffles and a tombola.
Food service support manager Maria Judd said: "It was a brilliant day and it really put the fun back into fundraising.
"We are focused on helping people within our communities, and the funds we raised will directly help people by enabling our volunteers to continue to visit people and deliver meals.
Local firms contributed to the party, which was at the charity's office in Queensway Court, Middlesbrough.
