Media group in plea for tutors

From the Northern Echo, first published Monday 11th Dec 2000.

DARLINGTON Media Group is looking for tutors to help to expand its community education programme next year.

The courses will encourage community groups, artists, craft workers, photographers and other people working in the arts to make more creative use of computers.

Group spokesman Tony McLean said: "Our current teaching staff is already stretched to its limits, and we will need to recruit new part-time lecturers to write and teach courses.

"We are looking for people with creative ideas and computer skills who can pass their expertise on to others.

"Initially, they will be working with desk top publishing and digital imaging, but we intend to extend the programme into multimedia and Internet skills as funds become available."

Anyone interested in finding out more is invited to attend a meeting at the Media Workshop on Saturday, at 2pm. Alternatively, they can telephone (01325) 488139
